Kimono fabric from a used silk kimono which I have unpicked/deconstructed for recycling purposes.

 

Details:
Colour: Red, purples, blue, white and beige.

Technique : Dyed.

Condition: Very good for a used fabric.

Fabric: Silk, light to medium weight. Threads are irregular in size so it give it a natural feel more of a raw thread than one you would use on a sewing machine. However the end product is defiantly not raw and it is a beautiful fabric and feel.

Design: Floral and traditional patterns within broken glass like shapes put back together like Kintsugi - the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery.

Age: Possible 1980 - 1990

Origin: Japan.

Lengths: 50 cm, 100 cm or 150 cm (more stock available on request).

Width: 37 cm
Weight: 30 g (50 cm piece).

    • Kimono fabric is quite narrow compared to normal fabric which is sold be the metre, this is because its made purely for kimono construction. Unlike western clothes which require lots of pattern pieces and styles, kimono are constructed much more simply and only the collar requires cutting out all other pieces are just cut to length and sewn together. Please check you are happy with the width before you purchase.
