It is available from a bolt in various lengths, please select how much you require from the drop down box and multiple lengths will be cut as one continuous piece (subject to availability).

Details:
Fabric: Combined weave - Not sure if cotton, silk or wool - I have performed a burn test as I am not completely sure what the fabric is. There was no label but it was listed as Combined weave that's all the info I have. It has a nice feel to it and could be silk or cotton.

Colour: Red, gold, pink, creamy white and black.

Condition: Not Used - Very good condition with only the odd yellowing.

Technique: Dyed.

Design: Double width fabric with printed shibori pattern, large chrysanthemum's, cranes and Japanese text.

NOTE: This fabric is folded in half on the bolt so it's actually twice as wide as the normal kimono fabric.
I think it has been designed to be cut down the middle as the birds go in one direction on one side then the other direction on the other. This could be a problem if you wanted to use this in full width to make something.

Age: Vintage.

Origin: Japan.

Approx size:

Lengths: 50 cm (for longer length please contact me for availability and price).

Width: 71 cm
Weight: 100 g 100cm

Please read addtional info section.

Thank you!

    • Kimono fabric is quite narrow compared to normal fabric which is sold be the metre, this is because its made purely for kimono construction. Unlike western clothes which require lots of pattern pieces and styles, kimono are constructed much more simply and only the collar requires cutting out all other pieces are just cut to length and sewn together. Please check you are happy with the width before you purchase.
    • If you are making your own kimono please note you would need a complete bolt for a traditional kimono or haori jacket. Unlike the west you buy from a bolt but in Japan you buy a whole bolt which can be around 900 cm for haori, 1200 cm for kimono or 2000 cm for matching kimono and haori.
    • With vintage or secondhand fabrics on some occasions you may find a small imperfection which is to be expected with these types of fabrics. If it was a significant imperfection I would mention it in the listing.
    • Items are not washable, please consult professional dry cleaners for advice if required or do a test sample before washing.
